For Nordaugh!
Started up playing gladius again, which for years has been one of my favorite strategy RPG's as well as one of my favorite games in general. The story is pretty cool, the combat is a little slow but awesome, and the characters look bad ass. The lack of an auto save feature though really gets to me though. As long as the battles can be sometimes and having to back all the way out to the main town's menu before your able to save kind of keeps me from remembering to do so after each and every battle and since my particular copy of the game or my PS2 or maybe even both decide to freeze quite often on me in mid game. Setting me back sometimes three battles back, which seems minuscule but is ultimately extremely fucking irritating. Needless to say iv chucked the controller more than once because of it. Other than that and the sometimes horrid voice acting and the ridiculous in game loading for magic animations its an amazing game. Iv also recently gave in and bought fallout:new Vegas and well. It has me genuinely interested in it. I'm playing in hardcore mode and well shit, its pretty hardcore. In hardcore mode if one of your limbs is disabled by lets just say two sticks of TNT landing at your feet blowing your legs off, well the only way to fix it is either a doctor, or a doctors bag and a decent medical skill. Which at the time of this writing well, isn't happening anytime soon, so me my quarter of a health bar not one but TWO blown off legs and a blown off arm are sadly limping around clearing out the rest of this fucking town's powder ganger problem. Hoping to get paid enough to afford a Dr to sew my legs back on, and do it right for that matter. Also iv ran out of water, which is starting to make my character a tad dizzy. They aren't fucking around when they say its hardcore mode that's for sure. Still pretty fun though, although a tad frustrating and rage inducing. Slitting a man's throat open with a straight razor, switching to a six shooter and literally blowing his buddy's head off certainly makes up for it.

Just cause or just cause?
As the title states its a fairly ambiguous game title, but it doesn't affect the game and its awesomeness in any way or form. I received a free copy of Just cause 2 and Mafia 2 via steam, from buying my new video card. Which my new pc is fully capable of running anything now so more gaming opportunities. Anyways, the game is like if grand theft auto had a love child with really cheesy over the top James bond movie. If your thinking that sounds completely over the top, insane, and wtf. Your correct! You can fall out of a plane 5 kilometers in the air and shoot your grappling hook into the ground and survive, you can hijack the "boss's" helicopter in any side mission throw him out and use it to blow everything in sight up. You can get across the entire island by parachute and grapple hooking trees to gain momentum. You can SURF a plane into a helicopter dive into the fray of combat below you grapple hook onto a tower and proceed to use the enemies own mini gun against them, once again blowing everything up in sight. It is completely ridiculous and its incredibly awesome. Its like every ADHD kids' wet dream. Its like it was directly influenced by Micheal bay's EXPLOSIONS (he owns the rights to fire, much like Danzig owns the rights to blood.) The best part is the main character just doesn't give two shits that hes blowing up an entire island, its just what he does. The game when it comes down to it is purely about blowing shit up. The main story line consists of blowing shit up, which to unlock story missions you have to complete side missions or "Faction missions" which consist of blowing shit up, and to unlock THOSE you have to just blow shit up. So really the only "story" the game has is "here's a gun and some bombs and a grappling hook which ignores all physics. Go blow shit up." I cant stop playing it though, its just that open, and FUN. Which when it comes down to it is really the only reason why you play games. Good story or alot of fun, which since this game has no story what so ever its purely fun.
In another aspect of my gaming world our gaming group had just completed a play test of some of the Pathfinder's new "alternative classes" it went fairly well we were able to detect balance issues but it ended pretty in pretty hilarious circumstances. Over all it was entertaining as all hell.
Also Sometime during this week likely Monday night I'm going to be doing a live stream of Fatal Frame, so if you like creepy ghost games and don't mind a game that has minor tweaks in it and have nothing else to do, come watch! =D

Rifts And Whatnot
I haven't updated this in a little while, but theres now new material to cover for you people. Iv gotten a new computer that doesn't tweak out every minute and a half and make any game regardless of graphics settings or age to drop to 3-10 frames a second. So Iv taken to playing games i haven't been able to in some time now. I received a beta invite to "Rift" which is an upcoming subscription based mmo. For the most part its actually better than i had expected, with some pretty pretty visuals and story cut scenes to start out with and an extremely unique class system which allows you to pick a calling (rouge, warrior, mage, and cleric) and each calling has a multitude of different "souls" to choose from further specializing your role. For example the rouge calling can further specialize to be a sneaky stealth bastard, a dot'ing combo DPS powerhouse, or a ranged fighter with explosives, yes you heard me, fucking explosives. Each calling seems to have a "buff only class" of sorts which means it really has no use outside of raiding, or pvp buffs and utilities like the rouges bard class. Right now I'm playing a "nightblade, rift stalker, bard" and so far seems to be pretty fun and really quick. I'm not going to go further into it though since i haven't played too much and just about anything in the game anyway is subject to change, but that's all info you can get from the site. Either way its pretty fun though a sort of rip off of warhammer online more than anything though and I'm not sure if its worth 15 bucks a month, unfortunately i think WoW still holds the only game worth paying a sub for and that's just barely worth it at that. Other than playing this four day long beta i recently bought Gran Turismo 5, which iv actually been sorely disappointed with. I haven't played online or any of the arcade mode play yet so i cant speak for those areas, but iv gotten a little ways into the A-spec mode races. Its got everything you'd expect from a GT game, nothing is really new except for the whole online lobby system, a ton of new cars and tracks, otherwise its the same exact thing as the last 4 and half (that GT4:prologue doesn't count worth shit as a full game) and as the overall quality goes its shit. I think the developers ran out of time or money at some point after focusing all of their attention on the premium cars and tracks, which look and sound and handle amazing, yet all the non premium cars sound exactly the same, look like shit, and the same goes for the non premium tracks, in fact you could play the nurburgring track side by side with GT4 and the only differences in look would be a little anti aliasing and shadowing. Otherwise it doesn't look any better than 4's version of the track. Needless to say i was sorely disappointed at that. The game now has external as well as internal damage which once again for the premium cars the car can get trashed as all hell looking but the non premium cars look barely dented, but for any car your in when you hit a wall or a car weather your going 20 mph or sailing at 170mph into a wall you'll hear the same dull "thunk" sound and dear god does it get really annoying really quickly, especially when your in the middle of the pack of mindless AI that is the opponent cars who will full on break in front of you or slam into you like your not there and hear nothing but "thunk thunk thunk thunk" Although extremely annoying its not nearly as bad as the walking sound in the other total disappointment of a game Final Fantasy 13. Which brings me to my final point about this whole game. I waited at least 3 years for a new Final Fantasy to get that linear 15 hour long tutorial movie posing as a game, and now i waited at least 4 years for a new Gran Turismo just to get a shitty hastily assembled remake of 4. I'm really hoping this trend doesn't extend to the other two games iv been waiting years to play like guildwars 2 or Duke Nukem. I swear to my heathen gods if GW2 is just as shitty as those shit games I'm jumping off a cliff.

It Is Done
So in my description i mention guild wars as a topic yet haven't discussed it much at all. Or any of my topics for that matter, but you can STFU if you've anything to say about that....just kidding i love you dear reader...so...very...much. Anyways. For months iv been ignoring the final three missions for the Guild wars:Nightfall campaign. The entire realm of torment zone can burn in a fiery hell for all i care. Almost every mission iv done on the exception of like two (the consulate docks and one of the vabi missions) iv done solo, with only my hero's and henchmen and iv been fine. The only trouble i had was because i was trying to complete them all on the expert rating. All of them were fairly difficult at times, or frustrating, but most of the time it just took a while to get through them was all. The last three missions on the other hand are a gift from the grinning prince of madness himself and every single npc has lost all their mental faculties. Every. Single. One of them has their heads up each others asses trying to find the mob that's focus firing on me, but decides to go ape shit berserk mode when they come within three continents of any mob I'm well aware can kill me with a fucking glance so i veer off and attempt to avoid their detection, but as i mentioned previously my hero's apparently say FUCK smart coward "fight another day" mentality FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!!!! and proceed to charge into the horizon after every single level 30 mob in the entire realm. As i stand there in complete shock of what my party has suddenly decided to do and feeling quite betrayed i try to regroup at the nearest res shrine, but holy hell if my hero's are ADAMANT about killing anything within their eyesight. So after many frustrating tries to complete this quest which consists of me marching to the other side of this map...yes you read that correctly. All i had to do was move to the other side of the map and WIN, but nope. Eventually i started to gain some headway into this tedious process of restarting every four minutes, but then wait. The lag starts kicking in like a newborn baby demon thirsting for fucking blood. After a few minutes of steam blowing in pouring rain i attempted again, and again, and again literally all night and then all the next morning. Finally i was able to recruit some help by someone and blew through it without any issues, got through the next set of missions without a hitch. Until we reached the last one. Kill abbodon. We attack his right arm, then his left then his head, then we can nuke the hell out of his main health bar till he respwans haul ass back and repeat a few times. Apparently though that's too hard for some people to understand and instead try to take on all three of them at the same time. Needless to say we returned to the outpost and promptly kicked him hired new and much better help killed abbodon in less than three cycles and finally. FINALLY after months of putting it off, beat the nightfall storyline. Now i just have to beat every mission and zone in hard mode. Hurray for that. I'm putting that one off till i find a guild first that's working on those titles. In the meantime its explorer title and Eye of the north quest line and dungeons to farm rep and gold for better gear. All in the glorious quest for epic loot in guild wars two. I swear it better be fucking epic, cuz if its not I'm going to Area net HQ and i will systematically insert every employee's head through there own flesh. Including the janitor.

That unscratchable itch
So iv been on this tirade of mmo games for the last couple hours. There is a reason for it, but i haven't had this happen to me for quite some time, since iv been caught up in single player games, or PS3 titles. See i usually have somewhere around five or so mmo's installed at all times, give or take a few. I play one consistently for a while, get bored and move onto one of the others, or install a new one. I recently installed the live version of vindictus and began playing the new caster character, which actually is extremely bad ass, and for once a caster type character that isn't completely squishy is very nice. Anyways i had been playing that all day when maintenance started. Well shit i thought now what am i going to do? Iv been in a gaming mood the last few days so doing something actually productive on my day off didn't sound too amazing. I had ran out of tempting single player games to play through (or ones i don't feel like tackling just yet) and no TV here at the moment to play a ps3 game, so i began to go through my list of playable mmo's, which at the moment is actually pretty short. The first one on there was atlantica. An amazing tactical mmo that for months i had become completely addicted to (in fact that addiction started soon after the borderlands phase) i haven't touched it since the end of that horrible period and though fuck it why not? see if the guild i was in was still around (probably not) and do a couple free league matches till servers are back up. Well shit i thought as maintenance was up on that game as well. So i went back to my very short list and found Battle forge, a neat little RTS/card game fusion mmo game. Its entertaining for all about three battles then it stops for another month, in fact the only reason i keep the game is i put money into it a while back ago considering you have to actually purchase cards/units that aren't in your starter deck (until recently where you actually get their premium currency in small amounts for battles to purchase singles with or save up for a booster) After about two games of that i got bored of that and lead to this update. So its time to see if vindictus is back up and proceed to play into the retarded hours of the morning. IL keep you people posted on that progress. Considering a level 44 Evie (the same caster character I'm playing) decided to join me on a dungeon (I'm only level 10) she proceeded to one hit everything in my path leaving me to loot the poor corpses of her brutality till we got to the boss. Once there i noticed there was a lot of broken pillar rubble around that started to turn blue then all of sudden formed into a many pieced stone golem three times my size....A FUCKING STONE GOLEM! It proceeded to beat the living hell out of the boss, picking up large boulders and tossing them at his face, then slamming his stone fist in his face while on the ground for good measure. Needless to say the boss was dead in about two minutes. I only have three words to say to that whole scenario though. I WANT ONE!

I still dont remember anything.....
Played through all of Amnesia and finished it last night. Once again a game that has an interesting story buildup, good game play and a plain creepy environment and then the "final battle" is just the most retarded thing ever. The entire game you go completely weaponless (though you can move just about every object in the game why couldn't they implement a system where you could pick up something and it hurts to throw it at said monster?) so i didn't expect an actual "boss fight". I did however expect some sort of platforming, puzzle, obstacle course or something to get through to stop the baddie, but soon found once you entered the final chamber all you did is stand listen to him talk then decide which ending you want to see based on your final action. There are three endings, one in which you don't do anything and the baddie hops through the portal he created and all is fucked, ending two where you prevent him from jumping in and you save yourself, and the final "good" ending where you toss some dead wanker' head down the portal and that somehow kills baddie yet saves you. THE END. As the same with Call of Cthulu i was very disappointed with the ending. As much as the ending failed on this one though it was a fairly fun game to play. A ton of suspense was created by not being able to see very well at most portions of the game, being weaponless doesn't help much when you open a door to a baddie right there with no real immediate place to hide, so you end up running for your life searching frantically for a dark room to hide in, but not for too long or you can watch your sanity start to nose dive. Unlike CoC though there is an actual sanity meter, and it seems to have no real effect on the overall game at least nothing that i discovered. As i said though overall great game and worth a play through. With winter break up IL have ample opportunity to get through some games and many other things iv been meaning to do lately so IL keep you posted on whats going on, so far though its just the slow grind of mission grinding to get titles for guild wars. I want my gear before GW2 comes out what can i say?
stay tuned! =D
